Little Simz to be named Cultural Innovator at the Fashion Awards

By

The most recent edition of The Fashion Awards, sponsored by Pandora and organised by the British Fashion Council, will take place in London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday, December 1. Little Simz will be one of the recipients of The Cultural Innovator Award.

The multi-award-winning British rapper originally became well-known after taking home the Breakthrough Artist of the Year title at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards. The AIM Awards’ Independent Album of the Year went to her debut album, A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons (2015). In celebration of her most recent studio album, Lotus, she recently finished an international tour.

In addition to her musical career, she became the youngest curator of the Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre this year, following in the footsteps of legendary figures like Nile Rodgers and David Bowie. Alongside Cillian Murphy, she played a major part in the movie STEVE.

The British Fashion Council honours a prominent inventor and image-maker in the entertainment sector who has significantly influenced both the fashion industry and society at large with the Cultural inventor Award.

“She is fearless in her creativity, uncompromising in her honesty, and endlessly inventive in the way she brings music, fashion, and storytelling together,” said Laura Weir, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council.
