Streaming platform Spotify has released its ‘Songs of Summer’ list, and some African songs made it to the list.
Fast-rising Ghanaian artist Moliy, Davido and Chella are the African artists who made it to the newly unveiled list. While Moliy is featured with her ‘Shake It To The Max’ remix featuring Silent Addy, Skillibeng and Shenseaa, Davido got featured with ‘With You’ featuring Omah Lay and Chella with his latest hit ‘My Darling’.
Curated by Spotify’s editorial & data teams, the list features tracks set to rule global airwaves, playlists & dancefloors.
Other artists featured on the list include Drake [Nokia], Benson Boone [Mystical Magical], Charli XCX [Party 4 You], Lady Gaga [How Bad Do You Want Me], Leon Thomas [MUTT], Lorde [WHAT Was That], etc.
The coveted spots secured by the few African artists testify to their growing popularity on the streaming platform. It also testifies to their global reach and audience appeal.
Since the release of ‘Shake It The Max,’ Moliy has dominating the Ghanaian music scene, amassing huge streams and breaking records. Earlier this year, she performed at the Accor Arena and also New York City’s Barclays Center alongside Vybz Kartel. Chella also after the success of ‘My Darling,’ unveiled a remix with Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz. Off Davido’s ‘5ive’ studio album, ‘With You’ is currently one of the best-selling and trending African songs.
