Ghanaian singer and rapper Black Sherif has hit a major milestone on streaming platform Spotify.
This comes after the rapper’s debut album ‘The Villain I Never Was’ surpassed 200 million streams on Spotify. The latest accomplishment marks his growing popularity and dominance on the platform.
It is Black Sherif’s first ever album to achieve such a milestone and the second Ghanaian project after Amaraae’s “TAYDK” to cross the mark on the platform.
In a historic turn of events, ‘The Villain I Never Was’ is the third African Hip-Hop album to hit the mark on the platform behind Odumodublvck’s “Eziokwu” & Olamide’s “Carpie Diem.”
Serving as Black Sherif’s debut album after coming into the limelight, the project was released via Blacko management and Empire on the 6th of October 2022. It contains 14 tracks and five songs including ‘Soja’, ‘Kwaku The Traveller,’ ‘Second Sermon’ featuring Nigerian afrobeats star Burna Boy, ’45’ and ‘Konongo Zongo’ were released as the LP’s lead singles.
Three years after, Black Sherif dropped his sophomore album ‘Iron Boy’ in April 2025 and embarked on a North American tour. He is currently on the European leg of his tour in support of his new album.
