Some voices are loud from the start. Others take time. V’s is the second kind. Short for Vanessa, though few ever call her that, V’s story begins between London and Ghana.
V’s early years were spent in a household were music played in the background of her everyday life. Her father made sure she and her siblings never forgot where they came, from. Ghanaian first, British second.

Growing up, she listened to her dad’s old records from the ‘70s to the early 2000s every Saturday. Her biggest music inspirations are Janet Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Destiny’s Child, and Alicia Keys..
Though music was always part of her life, V was very shy about singing. Dancing was something she did as a kid, even if it scared her sometimes. As she got older, she sang background vocals for other artists, which felt safer than being the star. After a health scare, she realized life is too short to hold back. With encouragement from family, she started making music just for herself and enjoying the process.

V has a special love for both New York and Ghana. New York is where she feels alive, meeting new friends and other people who love R&B like she does. Plus, the city’s food scene is endless (which can be a challenge). But Ghana will always be home, with family around and a lively way of enjoying life that she loves
The road to making music hasn’t been without challenges. Beyond the creative side, the costs add up quickly, and the early stages demand a lot of self-motivation. Even with connections, the journey is often solo, relying on the hope that people around her will recognize and support her vision.

V wants music to become her full-time career. Her biggest advice for anyone chasing creative dreams is simple: “don’t worry about what others think. If it makes you happy and doesn’t harm anyone, keep going. You’ll thank yourself later for living without regrets.”
She’s releasing a new song before the year ends and has an EP coming soon. She’s also interested in modelling.
Right now, she’s doing it all quietly, steadily, with both feet in her purpose.
