Following a court ruling against them in their continuing battle with their record company Ador, South Korean K-pop group NJZ, formerly NewJeans announced they are taking a sabbatical from all of their operations.
During a performance at ComplexCon Hong Kong on Sunday, the five-piece band, who have tried to rebrand as NJZ, revealed that “this will be our last performance for a little while” following the release of their new song Pit Stop.

The group was prohibited by the court’s decision on Friday from planning their shows, creating songs, or negotiating advertising contracts while they were at odds with Ador.
After accusing Ador of mistreatment, NJZ is attempting to sever their relationship with them and has stated that they would appeal the court’s decision.
Since August 2024, when Hybe, Ador’s parent business, allegedly kicked out NewJeans’ mentor, Min Hee-Jin, the group has been involved in a protracted legal battle with their record label.
When Hybe declined to comply with the band’s request that Min be returned, they went public with a litany of grievances against the label, including the allegation that it had purposefully harmed their careers.
As the eighth best-selling act globally in 2023, NJZ is regarded as one of the most promising new bands in K-Pop and this decision of going on a hiatus will affect fans deeply.
