Nicki Minaj has disclosed that she was asked to join the Recording Academy, which oversees the Grammy Awards, but she declined.
On Friday, July 11, the “Monster” rapper made the assertion live on StationHead. According to JustJared, she claimed she was grateful for the gesture but had good cause to decline the offer.
“At one point, the Grammys asked me to be on the board,” she said during the broadcast. “I appreciated it. That it was a very, very, very kind gesture but my integrity couldn’t allow me to accept it. This was before the release of Pink Friday 2.”
She continued: “My integrity couldn’t allow me to sit on the board of something that made absolutely no sense to me and to anyone that understands. So, I said no. I thought it was kind of them to try. Why would I be sitting on the board if I don’t have a Grammy?”
Despite being nominated multiple times in different categories, including Best Rap Song in 2024, Nicki Minaj has yet to win a Grammy.
Minaj, meanwhile, recently made waves when she attacked Democrats for criticising her allegation regarding the genitalia of her cousin’s buddy.
Minaj said on X, previously Twitter, that her cousin’s friend’s genitalia swelled up after receiving the vaccine in 2021, at the height of the COVID-19 epidemic. Many people on the then-popular social media platform dismissed her assertions as absurd, sparking a flurry of debate.
As part of a broader tirade against JAY-Z, the music industry in general, and Roc Nation in particular, Nicki Minaj returned to X, formerly Twitter, on July 8 to address the issue.
“I was attacked by Democrats because of my cousin’s b*lls. Do you recall?” She penned. “Let’s find out what they think about the DESIRAT pardon. Let’s see what they think about the fact that the brother billionaire never ran for Kamala despite Obama’s entreaties to the “brothers.”
