Meek Mill offered his thoughts on ESPN’s decision to fire Shannon Sharpe after he settled his sexual assault claim.
“Y’all too old to be getting fired fr……” was Meek’s Twitter statement on Wednesday night. He did this in response to a tweet announcing Sharpe’s termination from the sports network.
Meek’s opinion follows Sharpe’s dismissal from ESPN on Wednesday following the resolution of his Nevada sexual assault lawsuit earlier this month.
In his remarks, Sharpe said he had apologised to his brother, Sterling Sharpe, for the way the news of his dismissal had overshadowed Sterling’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“Obviously, I’m sure everybody’s heard the news by now that I will not be returning to ESPN,” he said in a Wednesday episode of his Nightcap podcast. “I found out this information a little earlier in the week and really the only thing that I really ask is like, guys, could we wait until Monday. My brother’s going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I really wanted it to be about him and I wanted it to be about my family.”
In a statement released by attorney Tony Buzbee earlier this month, Buzbee confirmed that “after protracted and respectful negotiations, we have reached a mutually agreed‑upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.”
Sharpe denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit a “shakedown” in a video posted to X. He vowed to defend himself and his legal team echoed that stance, calling the allegations against the media personality “meritless.”
In the meantime, the Philadelphia rapper, hinted of a big release on X. He said, “I’m about to drop a heavy load!” in response to his No. 5 rating on YouTube’s monthly rap audience list. Additionally, he denounced what he dubbed “hip hop music scamming.”
