Little Simz on May 9th will release her new album, ‘Lotus’, via AWAL Recordings.
The sixth collection by the generational rapper, “Lotus,” chronicles Simz’s development and rebirth. The release follows her seminal album “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert,” which won a Mercury Prize and a BRIT, her transitional project “NO THANK YOU,” and her electronic excursion “Drop 7.”
The new track “Flood,” which features Moonchild Sanelly and longtime collaborator Obongjayar, was released along with the album. Produced by Miles Clinton James, the somber punk-rap song features Simz’s career-defining sermon that is both devastating and purifying. Simz broadcasts her experience up to this point on a heavily crafted survivor’s song while simultaneously snarling and molasses smooth.
Little Simz has been named curator of the 30th edition of Meltdown, the Southbank Centre’s contemporary music event. Simz will curate a groundbreaking roster for the 11-day festival, which takes place from June 12 to June 22, joining a list of past curators that includes some of the most well-known musicians in the world.
