Rapper Kodak Black has been honoured with the Key to the City of Pompano Beach, heralding a major milestone in his career.
Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin honoured the “Cluck” rapper at a local ceremony on Tuesday, July 8. Kodak was commended for his “outstanding generosity and lasting impact on the community” in an Instagram picture that included him posing with the mayor with his loved ones and friends.
Kodak has twice paid the rent for 200 Pompano families, organised holiday turkey drives, and given bikes and gifts to local kids through his Zachariah McQueen Foundation organisation. Notably, the foundation donated air conditioners to Riviera Beach homeowners in 2021 in collaboration with the Palm Beach County group A Different Shade of Love.
Mayor Hardin in his speech described Kodak is “an individual whose journey from these very streets to international acclaim has been remarkable, but whose heart has never left this community.”
Kodak hosted a Father’s Day tailgate party at his alma school, Blanche Ely High School, last month, offering free admittance to local fathers and their kids.
