Jennifer Hudson has been announced as headlining act for the fourth annual Whitney E. Houston Legacy of Love Gala.
Scheduled to come of the 9th of August- on what would have been Whitney Houston’s 62nd birthday, the 40th anniversary celebration of the late singer’s history-making career will be held at the St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta, presented by The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation and Primary Wave Music. Music industry legend Clive Davis, chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment, will be the honorary chair for the upcoming gala.
R&B singer/songwriter Meli’sa Morgan, who sang on Houston’s self-titled debut album; Jimmy Vance, winner of The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation’s second annual Cover Song Competition; and a special performance by a symphony orchestra as a preview of the upcoming North America fall tour, The Voice of Whitney: A Symphonic Celebration, conducted by William R. Langley are the additional musical proportion of the highly anticipated event.
The evening will be hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Pat Houston, president of The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation and executor of the late artist’s estate.
In the press release, Pat Houston stated, “We are thrilled to have Jennifer Hudson as our special guest and headlining performer.” “We are overjoyed that she can join us and our special guests in celebrating Whitney’s 40th anniversary. More significantly, she still upholds Whitney’s legacy.
Kids in the Spotlight, a group that empowers foster youngsters, is the recipient of the foundation’s 2025 grant award. Through collaborations with Julien’s Auctions and Charity Buzz, the event itself is also providing Houston artefacts, in addition to other carefully chosen objects and experience packages. Once more, HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) students majoring in the arts will receive annual scholarships.
Houston continued, “We are thrilled with the foundation’s growth and development over the last four years.” Even though Whitney is well-known throughout the world for her exceptional musical and entertaining skills, helping kids and our young people was one of her greatest passions. From her international anthem, “Greatest Love of All,” she consistently reached out to different communities around the world and exemplified the work of a global servant. She lived by the maxim, “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way; show them all the beauty they possess inside, give them a sense of pride to make it easier….”
