Jelly Roll and Shaboozey are the two international headliners that Strummingbird, the recently announced Australian festival, has secured for its debut.
The fledgling Strummingbird festival, which was first hinted at earlier this month, announced that it would be making its debut in Australia in late October and early November. Three appearances are scheduled in Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, and Perth.
Jelly Roll and Shaboozey, who are both making their Australian debuts as part of the festival, lead the program, which was announced on Thursday, July 31 (Australia time).
In recent years, both performers have gained notable national recognition. Last year, Shaboozey’s popular 2024 single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” topped the Australian ARIA Singles charts, while Jelly Roll’s most recent album, Beautifully Broken, debuted at No. 19 on the 2024 Albums rankings.
Only a few months have passed since the release of their joint single, “Amen,” but it has not been confirmed whether the two will perform the song together when they are in the country. The two performers have not yet revealed any further Australian dates.
With acts like Texas’ Treaty Oak Revival, Illinois’ Drew Baldridge, Tennessee’s Julia Cole, and Virginia’s The Jack Wharff Band all travelling across the ocean to play on the bill, the lineup continues to be a mix of mostly American and Australian names.
James Johnston, Wade Forster, Kaylee Bell, Matt Hansen, The Dreggs, and others provide local representation in the meanwhile.
Perennial festival favourite Hot Dub Time Machine, who is said to give his DJ sets a “country and rock-and-roll twist,” and Y.O.G.A., the solo project of Reuben Styles of ARIA Award-winning duo Peking Duk, will also bring about a minor change in vibe throughout the evening.
Strummingbird, presented by Kicks Entertainment and Live Nation, is put on by the same company that organises the Spilt Milk festival, which will tour the nation in December and feature artists like Kendrick Lamar and Doechii.
