Rapper Ice Cube has responded to Selena Gomez after she named him as her childhood crush, revealing one of his own.
In a recent 3’s and Ones podcast episode, Cube stated that he had “about four” childhood crushes, with the late singer Vanity appearing to be the most prominent.
Appearing on the Goat Talk alongside Latin singer Karol G, Selena gave Cube a mention during a larger discussion about the all-time greats of rap.
“I had the biggest crush on [Ice Cube],” Gomez said. “I was, like, five. It’s so weird but I just thought he would protect me … I’m only saying it simply based on my childhood.”
The rapper also appearing on the latest Goat Talk episode revealed that he “heard this years ago,” though he didn’t elaborate on that point.
“A lot of ‘em like me, homie,” Cube said, as seen in the video below. “What? Wassup? I heard this years ago. Look, I had my crushes too growing up.”
Asked to name one, Cube mentioned Vanity, the lead singer behind the Prince-produced (and Prince-penned) 1982 hit “Nasty Girl,” off the Vanity 6 group’s lone album.
“I had about four,” Cube added as the crushes conversation continued.
