Cristiano Ronaldo has proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez, after nine years of dating.
On Monday (August 11), the Argentine-Spanish model posted a picture on Instagram of herself flaunting a massive oval-shaped diamond ring with Ronaldo’s hand beneath hers. “Yes I do,” Rodríguez captioned the post. “In this and all of my lives.”
The couple, who met at a Gucci store in Madrid where Rodríguez worked as an associate, are parents to four children, while the Portuguese soccer star has an oldest child, Cristiano Jr., 14, from a previous relationship. In April 2022, Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s son, Ángel, died shortly after birth, while his twin sister, Bella, was safely delivered.
In the first episode of Rodríguez’s 2022 Netflix documentary series, I Am Georgina, Ronaldo talked candidly about his reasons for delaying his engagement to his then-girlfriend.
The athlete recalled, “I always tell her, ‘When we get that click,'” that moment. “She understands what I’m talking about, just like everything in our lives. The time frame could be one year, six months, or even a month.
Additionally, Ronaldo said that he was “1000% sure” the idea would be implemented.
Rodriguez also made a joke in the program about how her friends frequently make fun of her for Ronaldo’s propensity to pop the question. “They make jokes about the wedding all the time. She asked, “When is the wedding?”
She continued, “Since Jennifer Lopez‘s song ‘the ring or when” [“El Anillo”] came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me.”
In April of this year, Rodríguez shared a photo of herself holding a sparkler and wearing a big diamond ring on Instagram Stories, sparking rumours that she was engaged. The caption said, “And keep evil away from us, Amen,” according to Brides.
