Black Sherif Is Ghana’s Artist of The Year

By

The just-ended Telecel Ghana Music Awards, the 27th of its kind, brought together music industry experts, musicians, media personnel, fans, and well-wishers at the Grand Arena, AICC, to celebrate a night of rich Ghanaian music and award the works of notable Ghanaian musicians.

The ultimate award for the ceremony was the Artist of the Year award, which had Sarkodie, Diana Hamilton, Black Sherif, Medikal, Wendy Shay, and Stonebwoy as nominees in the category. All artists had had a good year serving fans and music lovers with the best of albums, singles, tours, and a good show to top it all.

However, Black Sherif, after careful review from the board of the awards show, in addition to votes from the public, came out on top.

Black Sherif, in the year under review, dropped his chart-topping album, ‘Iron Boy,’ which featured 15 hit songs. His BET nomination was one for the books, turning his hard work into visibility and prominence. Blacko has the achievement of being the most-streamed artist on Spotify Ghana, and he topped it off with his annual ‘ZAAMA DISCO’ show, which drew a large turnout.

Aside from the Artist of the Year award, Black Sherif also won four other awards for his merit. He becomes one of the youngest musicians to accumulate several awards at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
