Nigerian afrobeats star Asake has marked his comeback with ‘Badman Gangsta’- a silky, cross-cultural hymn featuring French sensation Tiakola.
The song, which samples Amerie’s well-known “1 Thing,” combines Afrobeats, R&B, and international street style into a daring celebration of self-made prosperity.
Asake and Tiakola combine swagger with spirit in their lyrics in English, Yoruba, and French, conveying a message of tenacity, thankfulness, and aspiration.
“Badman Gangsta,” which has a gorgeous music video, also hints at Asake’s next album, “Money.”
