Ghanaian superstar Amaarae has officially unveiled a star-studded tracklist for her upcoming studio album, “Black Star,” which is scheduled for release on August 8, has been made public.

According to the Rolling Stone announcement, the 13-track album includes a varied roster of contributors, such as American R&B great Charlie Wilson and UK alt-pop sensation PinkPantheress. The enigmatic group Starkillers, UK rapper Bree Runway, and model and cultural icon Naomi Campbell are also on the list.

Based on the information that has been made public, “Black Star” promises a vibrant, club-oriented sound that expands upon Amaarae’s last album, “Fountain Baby.” The project received a lot of attention and was ranked first on Metacritic’s 2023 list of the best-reviewed albums.

Before the album’s release, two singles, “S.M.O.” and “Girlie Pop!” have already been made available. The Ghanaian diva claims that the album has a light-hearted and dance-oriented tone while examining identity, sexuality, and diaspora sounds.

“Black Star” alludes to Ghana’s national emblem as well as a larger story of Black ingenuity and worldwide influence.

As one of Ghana’s most inventive musicians, Amaarae is still making waves in the industry. She played at Governors Ball in New York earlier this year and became the first Ghanaian performer to do a solo set at Coachella.

With “Black Star,” she’s not only influencing the worldwide pop genre’s sound but also giving Ghanaian identity a central place in it. It is anticipated that the album’s release will signal yet another significant milestone in her career and validate her as a pivotal figure in contemporary Afro-diasporic music.
