Diljit Dosanjh left everyone shocked, in a good way, with his MET Gala debut this year. The global pop-icon not just walked the ramp but also attended Anna Wintour’s exclusive after party with international stars like Shakira and Nicole Scherzinger. His debut look was a powerful blend of heritage and high fashion, designed by Prabal Gurung.

Behind the most talked-about look was a dedicated Indian team led by stylist Victor Robinson, alongside Sohail Mughal, Manisha, and a group of 50 skilled craftsmen. Working nonstop for just 4 days, the team transformed a culturally rich vision into a fashion statement that stunned the world.
Victor Robinson shared, “When Pravesh Gurung (brother of Prabal) called saying Prabal wanted to collaborate on Diljit Dosanjh’s MET Gala look, it was surreal. We instantly said yes — this was history in the making. Diljit and Prabal had a powerful vision: a royal costume featuring the sun, moon, and the map of Punjab in Gurmukhi. They wanted it crafted in India using rich brocade fabric, and we sourced it from Benaras. Diljit personally approved the material — he wanted to feel exactly what he’d be wearing on that global stage.”
Robinson continued, “We reworked the embroidered map two or three times to get it absolutely right. While others worked on their MET looks for months, me, Sohail, and my colleague Manisha — along with her team of 50 skilled craftsmen — worked around the clock, nonstop for 4 days, to make it flawless.” He also said that there was pressure working under Prabal Gurung’s label, but they were driven to deliver perfection. He added, “When Prabal said, ‘It’s beautiful, just how I wanted it,’ we knew we had nailed the vision. It was a surreal moment to see our creation at the prestigious MET Gala, worn by a global icon like Diljit Dosanjh.”
Diljit’s look was more than just fashion, it was a bold display of culture, pride, and artistry, handcrafted in India and worn among the world’s most celebrated stars on fashion industry’s biggest night.
