After so much anticipation by fans and industry stakeholders, Afrobeats and Afro-pop singer King Promise has been crowned 26th TGMA ‘Artist of The Year’.
King Promise beat Stonebwoy, King Paluta, Kweku Smoke, Joe Mettle and Team Eternity to emerge victorious in the prestigious and overall category.
He was announced the overall ‘Artist of The Year’ after winning ‘Best Afropop Song’ for ‘Paris’, ‘Best Album/EP for ‘True To Self’ album, and ‘Best Afrobeats/ Afropop Artist’ at the ceremony held at the Grand Arena in Accra last night.

The singer made history at the event as he also thrilled and mesmerized patrons with a stellar performance.
Delivering an inspiring speech after winning the prize, he reflected on breakthrough year where he bagged seven nominations and won zero at the 2017 edition.
“My first year, when I broke out of the scene, I had 7 nominations, and I left with zero. While some people laughed, I just worked harder because I believed in God’s timing. Today, I’m the chosen one,” he said.
