Kumasi-based genre-bender MALAI returns with his third release of the year—ghosttown, a four-track EP in collaboration with production collective PLAYTRIBERS. The new body of work, released under the distribution arm of creative promotion agency Amplify Ghana, is an experimental blend of alternative Hip-Hop and Afrobeats.
The spiritually-charged EP, inspired by a simple yet profound concept—grace—sees MALAI oozing raw emotion, bare truth, and soul-cleansing lyricism in a striking fusion of styles. From the haunting intro DUNGEON TESTING II to the high-energy burst of MAZZA, the project takes listeners through the highs and lows of the inner self.
With standout cuts like BAFANA BAFANA and the bonus track ‘HINTABEA., the PLAYTRIBERS-produced project leans into a sonic atmosphere that is both minimal and layered.
