Chance The Rapper is making a big splash with his eagerly anticipated new album, “STAR LINE.”

The Chicago native’s first full-length album since 2019’s “The Big Day” was formally dropped on August 15.

Travels to Ghana and Jamaica, as well as time spent at international art shows, served as inspiration. Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line from the early 20th century is referenced in the album’s title. The purpose of the historic maritime line was to link Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas. “Star Line” is about pride, solidarity, and the depth of the Black experience, much like Garvey’s ideal.

This is a reflection on Black resiliency and a love letter to Chicago. A candid self-portrait of Chance as a cultural builder, parent, son, and artist is also included.

With a stellar guest list that includes Joey BadA$$, Lil Wayne, Smino, Vic Mensa, BJ the Chicago Kid, Young Thug, TiaCorine, Jamila Woods, Do or Die, Babychiefdoit, Jay Electronica, Lion Babe, Jazmine Sullivan, and Raachel Robinson, the album was executive produced by DexLvL. A deep, multi-layered soundtrack is ensured by production assistance from Nico Segal, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Stix, Smoko Ono, Nate Fox, and Peter CottonTale.

Speaking on the record, Chance said:

“This album is a culmination of my travels, my experiences, and my deep dive into the history that connects us all, It’s about legacy, the resilience of Black people, and the beautiful, complex story of our existence. From Chicago to Accra, this is my art, unfiltered. Star Line is a vessel for that story, and I’m thrilled that everyone can finally get on board.”

The rapper will embark on the “And We Back Tour” this fall, which will begin on September 26, 2025, and stop in Houston, Atlanta, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other cities, in honour of the release. Tickets are currently available for purchase.

His work has already sparked a flurry of appreciation on social media as listeners have praised his emotional depth and newfound passion.
